For example, Lundqvist and colleagues (2009) reported emotion-consistent changes on a range of physiological measures of ERM, including changes in facial expression, heart rate, skin conductance and finger temperature. A key model that can explain the process of emotion induction is by referring to the BRECVEM framework by Juslin and Vastfjall. The first component of this framework is the brain stem reflex, whereby emotions arise as the listener makes sense of the musical signals, which urges them to react to the musical stimulus. Recent studies suggest that listeners experience strong emotions only about 55% of the time they spend listening to music (Juslin & Laukka, 2004), or that in 65% of the musical episodes music affects how they feel (Juslin, Liljestrom, Vastfjall, Barradas, & Silva, 2008). ‪Professor of Psychology, Uppsala University‬ - ‪‪Citerat av 20 178‬‬ - ‪Music Perception‬ - ‪Nonverbal Communication‬ - ‪Music and Emotions‬ - ‪Music Psychology‬ - ‪Music Performance‬ We discussed this issue previously in Juslin and Laukka (Reference Juslin and Laukka 2004) and proposed, based on our prevalence findings, a list of 15 terms that could be useful in measuring musical emotions.
